NEW MIRRO 12-quart stovetop pressure canner / cooker

Description

Traditional aluminum pressure canner by Mirro. I used one almost exactly like this decades ago for canning tomato sauce.
BRAND NEW, and BEAUTIFUL! The previous owner opened the box but then kept it on the shelf, never used. (When I started to put on the lid with gasket, I found it had never been lubricated and so did not actually close it.) This has been sitting on the shelf since 1983! (Date on IB and stamped on pot bottom.)
(Box label shows that this sold at Marsh Supermarket, Indianapolis, for .95. Current similar jew models sell for only about twice that. If you are a COLLECTOR and don't want further marks on the box, be sure to tell me.)
Includes jiggler-weight pressure controller. Its three positions provide internal steam pressure of 5, 10, 15 psi for rapid cooking. The highest provides sterilization and is suitable for preserving even low-acid vegetables and meats.
There is also an aluminum plate for holding jars or solids foods off the bottom. Suitable for use on any electric or gas range. (You adjust the heat to just keep the jiggler venting occasionally.)
Current models work the same way. Same pressure relief jiggler system is coupled with a safety blowout plug to prevent disatrous events that marked the history of pressure cookers in the 1920s to early 1940s, before those safety features were introduced.
(Models later than this one generally have an additional safety, a LOCKING LID that cannot be opened until the pressure has been released.)
The owners manual includes recipes, and canning instructions. There are also two new Ball lids and rings for standard Mason jars. You can process up to seven quart jars at a time.
